Garrett partners with clients to address their leadership challenges and opportunities, supporting new levels of consciousness and systemic leadership and ‘learning organisations’. His leadership work has developed over the past 15 years across Asia. He coaches executives and teams from mid-level rising stars to regional C-Suite leadership with large, multinational organisations across banking, technology, healthcare, manufacturing, professional services and civil service.
Garrett’s systems-based approach helps clients undnderstand and better work with the dynamic and non-linear qualities of their organisation but also themselves and their relationships. Further, Garrett’s work brings into the frame the broader and longer-term challenges organisations need to address to ensure their own sustainability. This systems-thinking approach is utilised in strategic and sustainability leadership, but also change, relationship, performance and team management. Garrett also utilises a number of methods for effective communication, aided by his work in dispute mediation.
Approach
Garrett’s systems-oriented approach for coaching draws primarily from the learning organisation work of Peter Senge (“The Fifth Discipline”) and Organisation and Relationship Systems Coaching (ORSC), with whom he is a registered practitioner. His coaching also draws upon basic understandings and findings of positive psychology and neuroscience as it relates to human behaviour. He is an ICF certified coach (ACC) with assessment certifications for The Leadership Circle, Hogan Assessments and Everything DiSC.
Garrett is a board member of the Society for Organizational Learning (SoL) Singapore, a presenter / speaker for Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project and Climate Interactive and a member of other systems and sustainability focused initiatives. Garrett regularly speaks at different conferences and facilitates workshops for the public to bring greater levels of awareness and communicative action on matters of sustainability.
Qualifications
Prior to his work in developing more conscious leadership and learning organisations, Garrett consulted in law and corporate transactions with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Linklaters, as well as lectured on corporate law at the University of Navarra’s law school. He earned his Masters Degree in Accounting from the University of Florida and his Juris Doctor and LL.M. from Duke University School of Law, and is a member of the New York Bar of Attorneys and Ohio Society of CPA’s. Additional studies include a post-graduate certificate in Sustainability Leadership at the University of Cumbria, certificates in Sustainability Reporting (GRI), and Life Cycle Assessments with Nanyang Technical University
Personal Insights
He is a Singapore Permanent Resident, where he has lived for the past 13 years. He is passionate about nature, people, well-being, consciousness and responsible action, as well as his four year-old daughter. In his free time, Garrett finds his zen moments running the jungle trails of Singapore and playing classical guitar.
