Peter Kingston

Peter works with clients in private, government and not for profit sectors across a wide range of industries including financial services, IT, engineering, tertiary education, human services, property management, retail services and mining and energy. He brings a wealth of leadership experience from a distinguished career in theatre as a director and educator. Trained at NIDA as an actor Peter followed the path of directing with considerable creative and box office success. He directed for theatre companies throughout Australia and is renowned for developing commercially successful new works and nurturing talent.

Peter was Artistic Director of Griffin Theatre Company from 1986 to 1989, Head of Directing at NIDA from 1992 and in 1998 was appointed Head of Theatre at the Western Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and to the Board of Black Swan Theatre Company until 2002 when he was interim BSTC Artistic Director.

Peter has since been a Director of the Sydney-based consultancy In Corporate, specialising in organisational review and change management, and a regular tutor with NIDA’s Corporate Performance program, evolving a unique coaching practice to develop executive presence and impact.

Approach

Peter joined SMG in 2017 as a specialist communication skills coach, helping leaders with executive presence and impact. Peter also runs regular SMG Executive Presence and Impact workshops and now, online for presence and impact in the virtual space development.

Qualifications

Peter has a Bachelor of Performing Arts (Acting) NIDA, BA (Hons) Uni Syd.; accredited coach Institute of Executive Coaching and Leadership IECL); member International Coach Federation (ICF).

He is accredited in The Leadership Circle, Genos and MSCEIT leadership profiles; studies with The Resolution Institute and Psychodrama Australia; his board experience is with Black Swan Theatre Company, Australian National Playwrights Centre, and NSW Premier’s Arts Advisory Board.
