Kerrie Kelly

Kerrie brings over 30 years’ business experience in the public and private sectors. Since 2010, Kerrie’s career has involved a portfolio of interests including: company directorships, business strategy consulting, and working professionally as an executive coach and mentor to APAC executives. Kerrie has worked in various industries: law, banking, insurance, transport, manufacturing, and health; providing leadership and guidance across corporates, governments, family businesses, professional associations, and law firms. First practicing as a commercial lawyer, Kerrie then transitioned to senior line management roles within ANZ Banking Group. Kerrie subsequently held various executive and leadership positions, with strategy and P&L responsibilities at ASX Perpetual Registrars and Roads & Traffic Authority (NSW).

More recently, over 12 years working in Australia and the UK, as the CEO Kerrie has led the Association of British Insurers, Insurance Council of Australia, Financial Planning Association of Australia, Trustee Corporations Association and, Australian Physiotherapy Council. In these organisations she successfully developed and executed public policy, industry and business strategy; directed large organisational restructures; ensured good corporate governance; and directed corporate and crisis issues management. She is experienced in building and leading large and small teams of highly skilled professional staff to achieve organisational objectives.

Kerrie also has more than 20 years’ experience on public and private sector boards. She has been a member of the boards of HSBC Bank Australia, Rockend Technology and Westmead Medical Research Institute. She has served on public sector and advisory boards: Financial Literacy Advisory Board, NSW & ACT State Advisory Council for the Committee for the Economic Development of Australia (CEDA), the Financial Ombudsman Service, the Finance Industry Council of Australia, the National Finance Industry Training Advisory Body, the UK’s Better Regulation Strategy Group, and TheCityUK Financial Services Strategy Group. She has also served on not-for profit boards: Westmead Medical Research Foundation (WMRF) and Children’s Tumour Foundation; as well as having been a member of HSBC Bank Australia’s Audit Committee and WMRF’s Finance and Risk Committee.

Approach

As a professional executive coach and mentor, Kerrie challenges, develops and supports her clients on their own leadership journeys. With her own business experience, she is able to understand the demands of executive and management roles and to guide and support her clients to better clarify their own goals and priorities, diagnose the world of people they interact with, and better deal with business relationships- e.g. their direct reports, peers, business leaders, through to the board.

Qualifications

Kerrie was admitted as barrister & solicitor Supreme Court of Victoria and High Court of Australia in 1979. She is a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation and has obtained Certificate IV in Workplace and Business Coaching, a Diploma of Workplace and Business Coaching, and has a Certificate in Executive Coaching [Institute of Psychology, Sydney University]. Kerrie holds current accreditations in The Leadership Circle 360 and Hogan Personality Assessments.
