Belinda Howell

Belinda is an experienced coach, mentor and board director. Her extensive corporate career spanned sectors including professional services, education, financial services, travel and aviation, as well as government and not-for-profit entities.

Senior leadership roles with organisations such as British Airways, Readers’ Digest, Macquarie Bank, Rabobank, The Benevolent Society, Tower Insurance, KPMG and UTS College developed her interest in the art and science of leadership, stimulating her to incorporate coaching and mentoring into her roles and to undertake professional qualifications in these areas.

Belinda has longstanding interests in international aid and development, education and mental health. She is currently on the boards of Plan International Australia and Dunmore Lang College (Macquarie University) as well as consulting in the education sector.

Approach

Belinda works with executives and teams to lift their performance, creating greater effectiveness for their organisations and a heightened sense of capability and agency for the individuals. Her practice takes a ‘whole person’ approach, informed by professional experience in psychology and mental health. She employs a diversity of leadership and management models to expand the client’s knowledge base and self-awareness, leveraging underlying values, attitudes and worldviews as the foundations for achieving the desired changes.

Having worked in a range of organisational structures – large corporate, co-operative, partnership, for-purpose and public sector – Belinda identifies quickly with the context and pressures of clients from a range of organisational settings. She is highly attuned to current thinking around contemporary leadership and the challenges for organisations post-Covid.

Belinda has a particular interest in the challenges faced by ‘culturally diverse’ executives and in assisting leaders to expand their perspectives on leadership potential in their multicultural teams. She continues to develop her intercultural competence through study and participation in relevant committees.

Qualifications

Belinda’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts (Honours in French), Master of Business Administration and Graduate Diploma in Counselling. She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Certified Organisational Coach and completed the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD (France).

Personal Insights

Belinda is passionate about travel and getting to know people from different cultures.  She also partners with her husband in a rural property in Southern NSW, where they run a horticultural enterprise.
