Steve helped me to reframe some problems as opportunities rather than obstacles. He provides the feedback that I may not want to hear and others are not willing to say. Steve has helped me to become a better leader, partner, parent and friend.
Steve brings over four decades of experience to a wide range of business situations from technical engineering and production through to senior management roles. Whilst his career has focused mainly in the building products, steel manufacturing and processing, and construction industries, During his career, Steve has been able to successfully lead a range of different sized companies and structures providing experience from completely hands-on activities through to executive oversight.
As a senior executive, Steve is currently employed as CEO of AGG (Australian Glass Group) where he is leading a strategic and people transformation of the business. This interim role is part of Steve’s successful venture into developing his own business management consultancy practice. Prior to running his own business, Steve spent a long and successful career with Lysaght, BHP and OneSteel in the steel manufacturing and processing sectors.
Steve also has extensive experience at Board level having served as a non-executive Director in publicly listed companies as well as Chair of a number of private business and industry associations.
As a mentor, Steve is passionate in helping leaders forge successful careers in manufacturing, processing and distribution businesses through assisting them develop a deeper understanding of the nature of their role leading people and organisations. He brings a personalised, collaborative and human approach to his mentoring.
Steve holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (1st class Hons) from Wollongong University as well as an Advanced Management Program (AMP) from Harvard Business School. He holds a range of certificates in IT development, statistics and safety management.
Steve is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Steve has been heavily interested in sport throughout his life, with his main passions being cricket, basketball, rugby and hiking.
Steve is married with two grown sons and one grandson.
