Christopher Paterson

With a background in business psychology, Christopher understands the neurological and behavioural variables that facilitate sustained success and the barriers that get in our way. Armed with this knowledge, he has dedicated his 25+ year career to consulting and coaching in Australian, European, US and Asian markets across industries including financial and professional services, media, property and construction, telecommunications, informational technology, infrastructure, retail, FMCG and all three levels of government.

From Morgan&Banks, Christopher co-founded Innovative People Solutions [listing on the ASX in 1999] before launching an HR consulting and technology firm in London. Returning to Australia in a strategy role with Hudson Global Resources, Christopher went on to lead the talent management division, delivering coaching, psych assessment, outplacement, leadership development, employment branding and HR consulting solutions and winning multiple awards for delivery, team performance and leadership.

Christopher’s third consulting business, Alchemy Career Management, specialised in leadership and career coaching, underpinned by Wellness@Work® and was sold to SMG in 2021 to broaden SMGs scope and reach.

Approach

As an executive coach and business advisor, Christopher provides a practical and outcome focused mix of action planning and on the job counsel. Christopher’s role is to push leaders outside their comfort zone and to support them with the tools and resources needed to be at their best and succeed. Defined structures keep both parties accountable for results and provide clear evidence of impact and ROI. Intersecting themes include wellness, business, strategy, value priorities, career and life aspirations to facilitate substantial and sustained change in mindset and behaviour.

Qualifications

BA Psychology, PG DIP Organisation Psychology. Trained and accredited in over 30 psychometric and behavioural assessments including Saville, Global Leadership Wellness Survey, Careera, Assessa, SHL, PSL, OPP and Human Chemistry tools.

Personal Insights

When not helping executives and their business, you’ll find Christopher in the kitchen with his two girls [Amber and Zahra], preparing an Italian feast for a table of friends and family, red wine in hand. Christopher is a board member Board Member of Coward Punch Campaign, Advisor at Starlight Foundation and Asylum Seekers Centre, Fund Raiser at Mission Mexico and the Children’s Tumour Foundation, and the Year 2 Netball Coach at Holy Cross [the Sharp Shooters].
