A nurturing mentor and coach to emerging senior executives, Dr. Bill Foo brings with him a wealth of deep leadership experience,

Bill has more than 30 years of senior leadership experience in financial services across Asia, from 1983 to 2015. Most notably, he was the CEO of ANZ Singapore for 12 years, leading the bank with 2,100 staff as one of the largest banks in Singapore. He was Vice Chairman ANZ South Asia for 4 years, Southeast Asia Head of Investment Banking and the President of Schroders Indonesia for 7 years. He was also a Director at Citibank/Citicorp and AVP at Bank of America for 10 years.

Bill is currently Chairman of Tung Lok Group, Singapore’s leading innovative restaurant chain, operating about 34 restaurants in Singapore and the region. He is also a Director of Kenon Holdings (NYSE listed) with interests in power and shipping in Israel and automobiles in China.

In addition, Bill is Lead Director and Chair of the Audit Committee of CDL Hospitality (c20 hotels with US$2 billion in assets) and Mewah International (a US$ 3.2 billion agri-company). He is also Director of Tower Capital PE, which has equity stakes in leading organisations such as Eu Yan Sang, PTC Logistics, I Can Read/Indigo Education, etc.

Outside of the world of corporate business, Bill is a Trustee of the Strategic Studies Fund, part of the International Institute of Strategic Studies Asia, which organises of the annual Singapore Shangri-la Defence and Security Dialogue. He is active in non-profit organisations as Chairman of Salvation Army and James Cook University Singapore (with about 4,000 students locally). He was also previously a Director of IE Singapore (now Enterprise Singapore) and the Temasek Life Sciences, and Treasurer of the Singapore Island Country Club.

Bill is passionate in mentoring and coaching emerging business leaders and retiring senior military officers (e.g. Brigadier Generals from the SAF) in their career transition planning, in particular for executives moving into another strategic phase of their career. These include post retirement, board directorship and CEO/C-Suite aspiration roles.

Qualifications

Bill’s education includes Business Administration (from Concordia University), MBA (from McGill University) and an Honorary Doctor of Commerce (from James Cook University).
