Janet Horton

Janet is passionate about improving the way we feel about work. She helps leaders (and aspiring leaders) at all levels to develop themselves, their roles and their organisations to achieve more productive, satisfying outcomes. Her specialist areas include team and organizational dynamics, navigating the shift from senior leadership to the top team, women in leadership, group and team facilitation, stages of adult development, program design and virtual teaming and training.

Janet has delivered executive coaching, leadership development and change management programs with high-profile clients such as BHP, Westpac, NBN, Macquarie, University of Sydney, Department of Defence, Queensland Health, NSW Department of Education and private schools. She is equally experienced working with small to medium sized enterprises.

Prior to her organisational coaching career, Janet was a member of the executive team of a global technology company. She has held senior leadership roles in Australia, the USA and Singapore, in business development, client services and, ultimately, as Managing Director – Asia Pacific. Her coachees benefit from her deep understanding of the real-world challenges of navigating competing demands, tough business targets and large, diverse teams.

More recently, Janet has served as Executive Coach and Senior Facilitator to senior and high potential women for Women and Leadership Australia – an organisation dedicated to supporting a higher representation of women throughout the Australian workforce and broader community. She is also an engaging guest speaker, event convener, and panel moderator.

Approach

Janet approaches executive coaching as a developmental opportunity that grows good leaders into great leaders. She works in a thought partnership with her clients, where she is part mentor and part coach. She helps clients to make sense of their worlds – both within the organisation and external to it. Her goal is to expand thinking and stretch curiosity – cutting through the noise to get the right stuff done.

Qualifications

Janet holds a Masters in Organisational Coaching from the University of Sydney (where she has been a post-graduate tutor) and Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She is accredited in The Leadership Circle (TLC), Life Styles Inventory (LSI), Hogan’s Assessment Systems and Pragmatic Product Marketing. She is a member of the International Coaching Federation and the University of Sydney Coaching & Mentoring Association.

Personal Insights

When not coaching and facilitating, Janet relaxes and revives with sport, fitness, good fiction, good food and great conversation.
